History
In April of 1995, a group of young, deaf working professionals affiliated with the Washington, DC chapter of the National Technical
Institute for the Deaf (NTID) Alumni Association decided to create a monthly gathering of local
deaf, professional alumni. This monthly gathering became the NTID Deaf Professional Happy Hour and was led by a host or hostess.
Over time, the number of people in attendance grew and included graduates from other colleges and universities. It was later
decided that the event would be called just DPHH®.
