Someone has to say this, so here goes:
ASSOCIATED PRESS IS ON CRACK!
As I was browsing CNN, the following headline jumped at me:
‘The most anticipated baby since Jesus Christ’
EXCUSE ME!?!?!?!?!?!
Of course, they were talking about the impending arrival of the spawn of Jolie-Pitt. I am sure it will be a cute baby (the genetic makeup is astounding) but comparing it to the arrival of Jesus? Let’s face it, Jolie is no Virgin Mary!
Why are they making such a big deal out of the baby? Angelina and Pitt say that they want privacy. Them going all the way to Namibia to have this baby is attracting more than enough attention to begin with! Why Namibia? It seems like they are all about the “name”. “Oh, let me go give birth in a poor African country, then everyone will think I am an awesome social worker”.
Please don’t insult our intelligence! I mean come on, we get it. You do charity work, you work with UN, blah, blah, effin’ blah. Get over it already! You say you wanna sheild the baby from the media, yet what you are doing brings the baby more into the limelight (note: There have been other celebrities who have had babies in a normal way).
In the midst of all this, Namibia is arresting reporters. What happened to freedom of press and speech? If they are not harming her family in any way, they should not be arrested. The people want a national holiday for her baby’s birth?!?!?! Are they all on CRACK!?!?!?! People are dying of starvation and the government is more concerned about a baby being born instead of taking care of their own?!?!
You know what, talking about this made me realize that I am getting sucked into it also; but I could shut up no more. Just have the damn baby already and realize that you are no different from the billions of mothers out there! Grow up and if you really want to do something useful do it and don’t sit there and spew it at the press.
As for AP: There are far more important things going on in the world other than the fact that Angelina “I made out with my brother, had sex in the car with my ex, used to carry his blood in a vial around my neck, would never do to any woman what my dad did to my mom” Jolie having a damn baby!

I hate to jump on the bandwagon too but her quote of “…would never do to any woman what my dad did to my mom” smacks of hypocrisy and a whole lot of irony, don’t you think?
And yet they’re scared to post a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed.
hahah this cracks me up. I kinda have to agree with you, who gives a crap about Jolie giving birth to her baby. Honestly i’d thought she had it already!! i’m sick of all this baby nonsense….
Total blasphemy man… With a headliner like that, and the mandate for creating a national holiday for the birth, it is as if this baby might be the messiah that the jews have been waiting for.
The Pitt baby — reminds me of Robin Williams in “Dead Poets Society” when he said, “Rise above your name, Pitts”
Off the wall thought here - but what educational/language options would they choose for their baby if he/she/it were found to be … deaf?!
Divine intervention? or she would channel ASL and be named the UN representative of ASL… that’s when we start praying for divine intervention…
I wonder when anyone will point out that while Jolie (and subsequently Pitt) has done wonders by popularizing the idea of adopting internationally, by extension, she’s actually shifted focus away from adopting domestically.
Not that what she’s doing isn’t a good thing. Just that for all the service she’s doing it’d be nice if some lip service, at least, would be given to adoption in general as opposed to adopting only outside of the U.S. …Unless she has already and I just don’t know about it.
And if anybody’s gonna argue with me that no one’s thought more about adopting internationally because of them… I only have to point you to the tabloids and the entertainment magazines at the supermarket checkout.
Oh and two things I differ with you on:
1) the genetic makeup is astounding? Jolie is a hottie, sure, but Pitt? The only good-looking thing about him is his body, and I think he works for that.
2) One good thing might - MIGHT - come out of the baby being born in Namibia… I don’t know under what circumstances Jolie plans to give birth, but choosing not to give birth in an American hospital… I hope people might actually start paying attention to the flaws in the American obstetric field. (TIME magazine reported a couple weeks ago that we’re second in infant mortality, behind Latvia, among industrialized nations.) If Naomi Wolf and her book Misconceptions are to be believed (and they should), you can thank our high-tech, pathologized view of pregnancy (medical intervention is rarely ever really necessary) and our capitalist society for that.
Okay, enough from me, though I could go on. And on.
allison - you should read ‘midwives’ by chris bohjalian - it gives another interesting perspective about this discussion and it’s a great read (now that you’re on your summer break, and before your grad school starts … grin)
Time magazine is so wrong if they said that. Norway is the country in wich most children survives being born. We have the best healthcare ever. Absolutely everything is free. Medical examinations, medicin, operations, chemo etc.
Latvia is a very poor country, and stand no chance what so ever.
[…] As Swetha wrote, the most anticipated baby since the Christ child has arrived to bless our meek peoples. But that’s not all that’s happened recently (although our world has been surely changed forever by Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt’s august wisdom). We had one of our much-honored three-day weekends! Did everybody have a good Memorial Day break? […]
I wonder what the citizenship implications are for the baby. Is it fair for her to be non-American-born? Shiloh will never become a president of the United States. Why would Jolie-Pitt rob her of that opportunity!? Selfish.
Information about that can be found in:
http://travel.state.gov/family.....h_593.html
If Pitt and Jolie are still US citizens and have a documented residence in the US, Shiloh can still be a US citizen. I guess its up to the parents if they want to report the birth to the American consular office.
Is the baby African? Born in Africa to American parents…hmmm
Finally, we have an american-african. And it’s about time, cuz we have too many african-americans. No balance.
If an american moves to africa, does he/she automatically become american-african or do you have to be of american parents to be american-african? But wouldn’t that make he/she african-american? and then the so-called african-americans would really be american-african. Or they could all go back to Africa and just be Africans, period. Or be Marcus Garvian’s. And I would be a closet rascist-ian.
I think this baby will be the Antichrist.
By the way, am I the only one who thinks of Shiloh from The Bachelor: Paris when I think of this baby?
Something is legal down there. Jole needs morphine and Pitt needs ganja?
How about he gets some balls while he is at it?
oh, i think we all know he has some balls. he just participated in the birthing of a baby, didn’t he? well, his part was done nine months ago, but still…
He had, apparently he lost them to Jolie..
