Marylanders and Me,

The video was probably not directly produced by the Obama campaign (and was probably independently produced by Obama supporters) so the responsibility to caption the video most likely doesn't fall to the Obama campaign. If you go to Barack Obama's (http://origin.barackobama.com/tv/) and Hillary Clinton's (http://www.hillaryclinton.com/video/) video webpages, their "latest videos" aren't captioned. Obama and Clinton have a partnership with Project readOn though, yet the service probably can't keep up with the video output by both campaigns (or both campaigns have not made recent requests for videos to be captioned).

I am not sure if political web videos are covered under the IRS code cited above since it may only apply to TV commercials and not Internet videos. That's why I submitted it to Project readOn for captioning. Bill, thank you for captioning the "Yes We Can" video!

Shane,
Too bad you didn't ask her why Obama wasn't captioning all of his videos as a matter of course. Now THAT would make a statement to the deaf community!
Yes we can is an empty statement without the rest of the speech. Yes we can what? It's like when laundry detergents say "new and improved!" Compared to what?

In light of her age as well as of the gamut of her experiences, I was so very much impressed with the interview. Not only did Shoshannah Stern demonstrate as a very mature but she also demonstrated as quite an articulate and intelligent woman. I wish the very best of wishes for Ms. Stern.

What is she exactly saying? I mean, word for word. At the end, is she saying barriers impossible? My ASL must be rusty!

It's an awesome video, and Shoshannah has impressed me in her interview with DeafDC! I'm glad to see she's an articulate, mature woman now. She may not speak for all of us, but she's certainly a role model and is a leader by bringing the community positive exposure like this.
