Robert: my comments had nothing to do with the protest, but referred to your insulting comments toward the fellow who disagreed with the protest. It appears those comments have now been removed. As for the mirror, I was suggesting that while you mocked his English/logic, a mirror would be handy.

Scooter,
If you read emertius president I.K.Jordan's letter to community right after the Board announced the termination of the university's contract with Jane Fernades you will see he urging all members of community to not think about these period in term of winner/loser. Because as he explained, if we do that, everyone will be loser.

I do not think that any sides had won during the autumn protest, however we have choice between dwelling on the impossible task of producing simpified answer in binary fashion or accept these chaotic time in our history as potential watershed for all possible of positive changes in the future, kind that make everyone a winner.

It was bad enough that I have witnessed that many relationships and friendships were either compromise or destroyed during the time. I'm glad to say that for my part, one by one I managed to restore all ties that I valued which were strained by these events. These takes time.

As emertius President I.K.Jordan once remark that there are more to unite us than divide us. I am sorry to say that your current line of discourse is not at all helpful nor productive at all. If you are so worried about how historians will look back at these events. Well, as historian myself, I can tell you that people tend to weigh a historical event in value by taking look at what took in place as subequent. So the question for you, where do you like to see we go from here as community?

Just to give one example, he violated the Education of the Deaf Act in not allowing the GUAA Board of Directors to nominate at least on Gallaudet BoT member. Then take into account many other examples about how he manipulated the Board by censoring their communications (by having Kunkle monitor and block their incoming communications).

Deaf Pundit,

Jordan was committing fraud by doing things like supressing the results of the Triennial Review of Administrators by the Faculty Senate that showed Ferandes was incomeptent, and the other ways in which the Education of the Deaf Act was being violated and other federal laws were being violated.

Congress and the US Dept of Ed were being grossly negligent in not overseeing Gallaudet. This was a social emergency. Gallaudet's existence was put in jeopardy by Jordan and his illegal and immoral activities.

The protest, like the Boston Tea Party, was an act of communication. The takeover of HMB and the lockdown were only temporary closures intended to focus people's attention on the situation so that the proper legal authorities could take the proper actions and save Gallaudet.

Remember, fraud is an indirect form of force. If you're going to talk about breaking the law, you should be talking about how Jordan and the Jordanites broke the law. That's what the protesters were responding to, and that's why the protesters' actions in closing down HMB and the campus were completely justified.
