This is only a clarification to the web address in my comment #91963 in response to comment #91994 made by Ms. Ketcham, not to continue the discussion.

The web address in my original post has a period at the end of it as if it is part of the address instead of being punctuation for the end of sentence. So, the correct address is this: http://caeber.gallaudet.edu/resources.aspx

Michele,

I understand how people may bring CIs into the discussion, but the end result ended up being what seemed to be a hostile debate on various tangents. I had hoped people would talk about how to work together to bring change within AG Bell and address the real issue at heart - language and literacy.

I thank you for respecting my wishes.

(A note, some glitches occurred within the Add Comment section, hence my comment appearing three times.)

Aaron,

With all due respect, I feel you are being a bit naive in expecting people NOT to talk about CIs or deaf vs. Deaf thing, etc., especially since your own article mentions CIs at least twice, and even announces Ms. Rhoades as an CI user for a good measure.

Then in the comments section, the first person who talked about CIs was "Mother of CI kids".

Once she brought CIs in discussion, it was really no surprise that people jumped onboard to talk about this. After all, it's a very highly relevant topic, even if it's not what you intended (or wanted).

However, I will do my part and stop contributing comments under your article.

Which is why I find DeafDC.com increasingly frustrating. All the discussions seem to be about one topic: deaf vs. Deaf. Rather than attempting to bridge the communities, it creates a greater divide.
