I am very curious...

If the presidential search committee came up with three candidates and Jane Fernandes is one of the three. Then Jane Fernandes is most qualified and is selected again for the presidential position.

Will there be another protest?

[...] Let’s look at racism, for example. Quite a few people at Gallaudet claim that the problem is that there must be racist motives involved in the selection process; otherwise, why was Glenn Anderson discarded in favor of an all-white pool? My answer to this is similar to the one that Kristi Merriweather made on GallyNet-L over the summer (and recently again on DeafDC): If Ron Stern or Steve Weiner had been chosen, would anyone be that concerned about racism or the lack of ethnicity in the final candidate pool? I strongly doubt it. I’m white, so maybe I don’t “get it,” but I don’t see racism as the real issue here, and it pains me every time “diversity” is brought up. I see the real problem (and quite a few people noticed this right away, including me) being the fact that a candidate survived to the final round with only a M.A., compared with a number of applicants with Ph.D.’s.
as a white person, I appreciate somebody like you expressing the truth (don't I love articulated and well-written truth like yours). I'm not afraid to listen the truth from people of colors because generally I hate bullshit & hypocrisy. That's just me. I noticed and wondered about an extremely low numbers of leadership among people of colors in FSSA. That I found it kind of odd but not surprising.

And, a white person (a Gallaudet employee with Ph.D) told me that it was COSC that first make the "wave" about the flawed search process but was told to "hush" themselves. And this employee said indirectly that COSC was right in the first place but wasn't being listened to.

I've heard of your name through your work on YES for deaf black youth (yes I did come across a website about this about 7 years ago). Whatever you're doing now, keep it up.

[...] Many people of color I have spoken to expressed mixed feelings about the protest. Many of us have felt the Gallaudet FSSA used and exploited our community. Kristi Merriweather wrote it best in her blog entry “A Fictitious Protest for Fictitious Reasons.” I encourage everyone to read that at http://www.deafdc.com/blog/guest-blogger/2006-10-14/a-fictitious-protest-for-fictitous-reasons/ [...]

Jean,

Just so you know for future reference, when you place a bunch of URLs your comment, the Blog system suspects that it may be spam. It asks me to decide whether to permit the comment or mark it as spam. You can continue to use multiple URLs in your comment, but it will have to wait for me to clear out the moderated comments.

We get hundreds of spam messages a day on this website. I am always making sure that they stay off DeafDC.com.

She also keeps other people now to swing the ax. One is Karen Kimmel her 'ax-sister' whom she appointed to Dean during the summer recess 2 years ago. Familiar method?

One reason faculty is so much against Fernandes is that they know: if Jane is the president, then her ilks will take control at each and every level axing whomever they can reach.

I was waiting for people to tell me who are the ASL, Oral, Audist, Deaf Militants.

It appears no one wants to walk upon Gallaudet's live landmine field. People will tell you who are the racist but not ASL or Audist militants.

Why? I guess a lot of gunpowder inside the landmine device.

Zoltan:

Sorry about that I was not aware of your situation at Gallaudet. What Gallaudet techers need is a union and protection for all faculty members.

Too many faculty members forgot to duck when Jane was swinging her ax.
