When they grow up, they become quite ugly. It is common for people up north, Quebec and smaller provinces to hunt seals. In fact, they have massive hunt every year. A lot of people aren't aware that seals are one of the fiercest species out there. They'll hunt for anything, they'll even kill killer whales. They aren't afraid of people, they'll lung for your throat at the first opporunity they get. They're no tamer than the alligators are. Adorable or not, they have to hunt them because they grow in population at a rapid rate which is why we have the massive hunt. Cruel or not, it's part of life. If a person approach a seal without a weapon, s/he better hope that God will answer his/her prayers because it's not going to be easy to make some defense moves. Appearance can be deceiving. I don't like to appear cruel, but it's perfectly natural for animals to eat other animals. Otherwise, we would have a serious problem with overpopulation. I do believe in being as humane as possible in killing an animal, I don't believe in torturing animals. No animal should be eaten without gratitude. Also, he's the author of "Kitchen Confidential" which is a biography of his career from do-nothin' pothead Vassar alumnus to a world-class chef. Quite all-around brilliant and rough around the edges.
