The reason why I say that is because one of my friends thinks I’m snobby because I wear my sunglasses all the time. I think it’s hilarious because there’s several reasons for that.
I have Usher’s so I’m protecting my eyes from sun damage. Even though I’m probably more likely to get hit by a car than anything else.
My mom yells at me if I don’t wear my sunglasses–especially in the summer because I don’t want those white rings around my eyes, so I listen to her. I hate when my mom gets on my case about not wearing sunglasses. But I get on her case about not wearing sunglasses…it’s not like she listens to me because she rarely wears hers.
My eyes are blue, and they’re light. They just happen to be extra sensitive to light. I’m always squinting when I’m on the Metro or in a grocery store. I really do think the light is too bright sometimes.
At work, I had someone come in and turn off the over head lights so I can work with a desk light because I felt the overhead lights were way way too bright. And it feels so much less like an “office.”
I am one of “those” people who do wear my sunglasses on the Metro, even when we’re going through the tunnels. No, I’m not trying to be snooty. I just really do think that the lights on the Metro are too bright, so I do rather keep my sunglasses on. It colors everything a little bit darker and makes it more tolerable.
I even wear my sunglasses when I go into stores or whatever. I just don’t think about taking them off. It doesn’t occur to me. Sometimes I have a couple friends who will nudge at me to take off my sunglasses, which isn’t a big deal.
Sometimes I just leave them on because I don’t want to put them on top of my head, cuz they don’t always stay up there. Or they’ll rip through my hair when I go to slide them back on. Or my purse isn’t big enough to fit them in, or I just don’t want to risk breaking them (which I’ve done countless times).
I love my sunglasses; they’re part of me. They protect my eyes so I’m not squinting all the time. I just can’t stand that it’s bright all the time. Funny thing is I love the sun–it’s just my eyes don’t like them all that much.
So go ahead, call me a snob if you want. But I’m not trying to be one.

Nah, you’re not a snob at all. Funny, this incident got Bush in tiny trouble and you posted a related topic today too. Do you have sixth sense?
http://www.usatoday.com/news/w.....rter_x.htm
Excerpt from USAToday:
Wallsten said Bush called his cellphone later in the day to apologize and tell him that he didn’t know he had the disease. Wallsten said he interrupted and told the president that no apology was necessary and that he didn’t feel offended since he hadn’t told anyone at the White House about his condition.
“He said, ‘I needle you guys out of affection,’” Wallsten said. “I said, ‘I understand that, but I don’t want you to treat me any differently because of this.’”
Wallsten said the president said he would not treat him differently, so Wallsten encouraged him to “needle away.”
“He said, ‘I will. Next time I’ll just use a different needle,’” Wallsten said.
=====================
Thing is, not very many people knew about his eye condition. It’s a case of the Left making a mountain out of an anthill.
It should be noted that Wallsten was offended because Bush never answered his question. A side-stepping tactic?
Beware! Since sunglasses block light, your eyes are dilated. But if, somehow, sunlight was able to get into your eyes while they are dilated, the retinas can get damaged.
Incorrect. Wallsten was never offended. Please, take your blinders off.

(My apologies to Erin for digressing from the main topic, but I need to say the below)
Mcconnell,
It is rather typical of the ******* republican blokes to not check the other side of the story when it concerns Bush. How do you even know if it was not taken out of context? Check this report from the associated press.

complaint vs offended are two different things. He was never offended by Bush’ comment. Plus he wasn’t offended that Bush didn’t answer his question though he was disappointed that his question wasn’t answered. But offended? Please.
This liberal SAW the interaction. The reporter was NOT offended.
Get one of those Secret Service pins. They make you look like you are on the job.
From what I’ve heard, cochlear implant apparatus often has people thinking they’re SS or CIA. :)
YES. Now just start talking to your shirt cuff and you’re all set.
Snob. Hey, I’m just doing what I was told to do.
I’m not a snob.. I just naturally hate you. =P (joke)
Maybe I’m a little sensitive, but it wasn’t necessary to say what you just said. I just think what you said was rude.
hahaha… yes you are being a tad sensitive, but please do accept my apologies if my comment is equivalent to the sky falling for you. =) I was merely having fun. =) Have a nice day and be happy not everyone is out to get you. =)
Sigh. I know some people are getting a kick out of this Busy and the sunglasses guy, but honestly I think it’s no big deal. It was just a misunderstanding. Believe me, I want Bush to look a fool as much as Michael Moore or any other lefty would, but in this case, I’m not on board.
It was just a misunderstanding. If people were making a hay out of the fact between some kind of incident where Bush demmaned why I wasn’t “hearing” him, I would be just like, ‘I’m deaf”, and not even take offense. LOL
