I got a job with a contract company at their NIH facility so I've been looking for a place of my own close to Bethesda. But its a pain, especially since I have a dog of my own and don't want to spend too much on gas. I'll be moving from Cincinnati in about three weeks. Forunately, a family friend offered to have me stay for a bit while so i can look around. Hopefully I'll find a place. Personally, after eight years of roommates, I don't want any. True, it would save money, and prevent loneliness. But I'm tired of the hassle I had with roommates. I'd appericate any feedbacks.

Yeah, Sacha, you offer a good suggestion. I agree that buying a house/condo is a better investment than looking for a place to rent/lease. I know of several young professionals who bought their homes through the HUD Home Buy. Go to this website for information...

Agree with Adam. Start looking in July and grab that place as soon as possible. Otherwise, you risk losing it to the thousands of college students who'll be looking for a place to live come September.

Here's a suggestion: if all the three of you have formed such a good friendship and feel can trust each other, why not buying a house/condo together? The real estate market is in the process of cooling off, prices have lowered a bit so it should be a good opportunity to buy. And the good thing is... you get to get your money back whenever you guys decide to sell!

Isn't it a bit early? I would imagine that September vacancies wouldn't really start until early July.

Pfft. Try to find a place in Long Island, NY! Those people don't even advertise! They just do "word of mouth" and go through real estate agents. AS it is, I'll probably end up paying a real estate agent!
