Last Friday, DPHH happened in Silver Spring. After looking at Gallery’s website, I determined that it was definitely one of those places where everyone’s dressed to the nines. That didn’t happen. It was a disappointment to me when I didn’t see a lot of people dressed up. Mainly because I don’t dress up very often and I love dressing up. When my friends and I dress up, you might think it’s elaborate, but it really isn’t. We pick the basics, but we just know how to accessorize and make the most of our outfits.
Sounds girly, doesn’t it? I don’t think so, after all my outfit was simple but it made an impact (not everyone saw me because I left around 11*): white skirt, black tank, black strappy heels and turquoise earrings. That doesn’t sound elaborate, does it? Another friend of mine looked great, and she just wore a dress and heels. Someone else wore white pants with “wife beater style” tanks in 2 different colors and a long necklace. We didn’t even take that long to get ready.
It’s NOT complicated to dress up. It really is simple; it’s all about the accessorizing and adding a splash of color. I LOVE color.
When DPHH happens in a fun, upscale place, it’s always nice to see everyone dressed up because that shows a different side of everyone. Girls, it definitely doesn’t mean you have to reveal some skin, just add a splash of color by wearing earrings or necklaces…or a brightly colored tank top. Even the guys, it’s even easier for you to dress up, button up shirt with black/grey/dark brown pants or even dark blue jeans (not faded). So easy. At least I think it is easy for me. Maybe I just watch way too many fashion shows (Look For Less, What Not To Wear, etc), and read too many fashion magazines (Glamour, Lucky).
I loved the scheme of Gallery, but I did not like the service. It took way too long to get our drinks, and the hostess wasn’t very clear as to how long we would have to wait for a table. It definitely sucked that people weren’t able to get the fact that there were 2 parties going on at once. So the location of dphh moved on over to Galaxy Billiards, which I didn’t go but I heard everyone enjoyed themselves even more. In the end, all’s well ends well.
Next time DPHH is at a upscale location, try to spice up with your wardrobe. It doesn’t have to be costly (after all my favorite store is definitely Target…)
*It’s one of the down falls of getting up every morning at 5 am to hit the gym. I was EXHAUSTED.
