The Washington, DC Deaf Professional Happy Hour is delighted to announce that Viable, the exclusive sponsor of our monthly event, will provide finger foods and soft beverages from 9 pm to 11 pm on Friday, December 7th at Finn macCool’s! The DC DPHH has also secured the entire second floor of the establishment, so the crowd up there will be a totally deaf, deaf, deaf!
Catch up with friends before the holiday break and enjoy a round or two of competition with your buddies on the dart boards, a Tornado Tournament foosball table, a pool table, or a 20’ Champion shuffleboard table on the second floor. Don’t forget to sample the fine selections of Finn macCool’s seasonal beers.
This DPHH will be the most happenin’ event of the month, with an invasion of Federal employees from the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Government 10th Anniversary Luncheon held at Gallaudet University earlier in the day!

For sure, the employees at Finn’s won’t be happy about this.
Uhm, why?
Gallaudetian,
I’ll venture a guess here…if this is about tips, we urge everyone to tip their bartenders/waitresses.
Our own Josh Mendelsohn wrote a tipping guide earlier this year:

Also Kevin McCaul wrote a blog describing deaf goofus and gallant at DPHH:

Yes, you are correct. I went to Finn’s recently and there were two groups of deaf people who walked out without paying the bill. The bartender was quite upset. The others said they weren’t looking forward to this weekend.
Thanks for providing the link to Mendelsohn’s tipping guide! ;)
Can you tell me when will the DPHH dates be in 2008?
Sometimes I have out-of-towners who are interested in going to DPHH and need to plan ahead.
Will it be
January 11
February 1 or 8
March 7
April 4
May 2
June 6
July 4 or 11
August 1
September 5
October 3
November 7
December 5
Thanks
Marylanders,
The Washington, DC DPHH is on the first Friday of every month. If there is a conflict (such as a holiday, etc.) then we will post a notice on DeafDC.com and through our email list.
Speaking of out-of-towners, I wonder if it’s possible that dphh can be moved to saturday to make it easier to them to attend? I’ve seen some cities hosting dphh on saturdays..
guest,
It has been suggested before. Maybe we’ll try that for one DPHH. We’ll see.
i’m flying in from california (where the dphhs here pale in comparison, ahem), so i’m excited about going to dc’s dphh- where better than finn?! ;)
My friends and people were embarrassing to see how some of the kids were unmannerly, non tippings and roaring at the bartenders on Dec7th, even worse they were banging on the bar counter. The bartenders were not totally happy how they treating them *****.
May we suggestion, get two or more hearted guys watching their misbehavior (chill out) and encourage them to tipping. The more educated the better yet.
