oh, my hopes of returning to smoke filled bars in DC are dashed. I've since quit smoking but it's so great in a smoky bar (ambiance, ya know) and covers up the booze emanating through your skin pores.

I am all for the smoke-free public places! I never really enjoy patronizing any places with smoke-filled atomspehre! We have to remmy that the DC bars still linger from the stench of smoking for few months.

Many American pubs and bars and other public places do not have the European-standard smoking fume cleaners. I never have any problems at the European pubs and bars and other public places. Europeans smoke heavily than Americans.
