Please join us in welcoming Erin Casler! Erin, the current Miss Deaf America, will be our newest DeafDC.com blogger. A mini-celebrity in her own right, the New York and Connecticut native quickly became a Washington urbanite last year after living among South Dakota’s amber waves of grain. As Miss Deaf America, she brings to DeafDC.com a wealth of knowledge on advocacy issues affecting the deaf and hard-of-hearing population, particularly on violence against women.
Erin, a Smith College alumna, is the assistant director of corporate and foundation relations at Gallaudet University, and her local activities include playing for the Maryland Stingers, a women’s rugby team. A voracious reader, Erin’s literary collection includes post-colonial literature and feminist theory, as well as topics covering Chomsky, Foucault, the United Nations, and Rwanda. She also has a remarkable array of pristine, unused art supplies, and a love for cooking, particularly when it involves recipes by Jamie Oliver.
Let’s give Erin a big DeafDC.com welcome!

Oh my god, she’s a fellow Smithie? By all means, welcome to deafdc.com!
Interesting.
I know someone who is deaf and from Mount Holyoke. You know the saying, you party with Smith women, but you marry Mount Holyoke women.
Mount Holyoke’s got nothing on us Smithies–we’re the awesome Velma to the boring Daphne that is Mt. Holyoke.
LOL.
I don’t think there’s any more truth to this saying given the seemingly new prevalence of lugs in that part of the world. :)
Welcome, Erin!
We all look forward to your blogs. :)
Looks like a premature introduction here?
Welcome to the family!
Welcome, Erin!
