In the spirit of inclusiveness and what Rob dubbed as “hearing pluralism,” DeafDC.com has opened its blogger ranks to those who are hearing. We believe the “hearing perspective” will enable further balance to the various opinions that DeafDC.com has been able to offer these past few weeks. Please know that we at DeafDC.com screen and choose our bloggers carefully as to ensure journalistic ability and integrity.
Please join us in welcoming Swetha Amruthur! Swetha is the hearing cousin of two deaf sisters who live in the Washington area. One sister is a doctoral candidate at Gallaudet University while the other is a RIT alumna.
Swetha works as a financial analyst for a large government contractor based in Reston and lives outside of Washington in Burke, VA. She has a degree in economics from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada and is currently pursuing her CPA certification.
Hobbywise, she dabbles in fashion and handbag design–and writes when she can spare time from her shopping escapades. She is also no stranger to DPHH, can sign and knows a bit about Deaf culture and our quirkiness.
Welcome, Swetha!

It will certainly be interesting to see an outsider’s perspective. So welcome aboard!

Welcome, Swetha!
I would love the opportunity to be involved should you ever look for another hearing blogger who is closely involved with the DC-area Deaf community.
