In remembrance of the moral compass of America…
The great Jerry Falwell has passed away today. I feel we should take time to consider this death of this man. Below are several of his quotes.
“Grown men should not be having sex with prostitutes unless they are married to them”
“I had a student ask me, “Could the savior you believe in save Osama bin Laden?” Of course, we know the blood of Jesus Christ can save him, and then he must be executed”
“Christians, like slaves and soldiers, ask no questions”
“AIDS is not just God’s punishment for homosexuals; it is God’s punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals”
“Billy Graham is the chief servant of Satan in America”
“The idea that religion and politics don’t mix was invented by the Devil to keep Christians from running their own country”
“If you’re not a born-again Christian, you’re a failure as a human being”
“Textbooks are Soviet propaganda”
“The ACLU is to Christians what the American Nazi party is to Jews”
“It appears that America’s anti-Biblical feminist movement is at last dying, thank God, and is possibly being replaced by a Christ-centered men’s movement which may become the foundation for a desperately needed national spiritual awakening”
“The whole (global warming) thing is created to destroy America’s free enterprise system and our economic stability”
“We visit prisoners on death row, and some of them are saved, but we believe their sentences should be carried out because they have a debt to society”
“Homosexuality is Satan’s diabolical attack upon the family that will not only have a corrupting influence upon our next generation, but it will also bring down the wrath of God upon America.”
“I do not believe we can blame genetics for adultery, homosexuality, dishonesty and other character flaws”
“God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve”
“I sincerely believe that the collective efforts of many secularists during the past generation, resulting in the expulsion from our schools and from the public square, has left us vulnerable”
“(re: 9/11 attacks) “…throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools, the abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked and when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad…I really believe that the pagans and the abortionists and the feminists and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way, all of them who try to secularize America…I point the thing in their face and say you helped this happen.””
“[homosexuals are] brute beasts…part of a vile and satanic system [that] will be utterly annihilated, and there will be a celebration in heaven.”
“There’s been a concerted effort to steal Christmas.”
“The media have a widely-held agenda (that doesn’t include support of President Bush) and they are not about to tarnish the image of anti-war protesters by showing them for what they actually are, … With this tyrannical approach to the news, it’s really no wonder so many Americans don’t take the networks seriously anymore. And it’s no wonder that conservative Internet news sites have grown by leaps and bounds.”
“Pat ran for president once and he’s a very political person, and that is the way politicians talk. They all use intimidation and political strong-arming to hopefully pick up a vote or two.”
“A mighty oak has fallen in God’s forest.”
Ok, that’s the end of those quotes. I’m more akin to Yogi Berra’s great quote:
They say ‘Don’t say bad about the dead.’, so when I heard he was dead I said ‘Good.’

Rev. Jerry Fawell was one of God’s Bullies! He was entirely responsible for paving “almost theoracy” in our American society. Shame on Falwell!
I was really pleased to see Larry Flynt of “Hustler” magazine made meatmince out of Falwell as a real hyprocrite. Falwell and his people READ Hustler and other porn magazines. Flynt got the best of Falwell’s own hyprocrisy in many ways for people to know about what kind of person he was.
Falwell once was photographed for chasing the African American middle-aged guy with his ride-on lawn mower for just a fun. He apologized for this kind of stuff. Come on!
Falwell idiotically spewed that the one of the “Purple” Teletubbies character to be gay. What’s matter with someone being asexual or dress like an opposite sex or prance with purse. Men in some countries do have their own purses like Scottish guys and their miniskirts.
Everyone ought to read “God’s Bullies” nonfiction book sometimes. One thing I embraced Falwell for hiring the sign language interpreter for his “Ole’ Time Religion” tv show in 70s and 80s.

Just think…
RLM, the Deaf compass for Deafies worldwide.
His most famous quote:
“Photos are kinda audism and menacing to our natural language.”
Oh, and- “Eastman, inventor of kodak pictures, was good friends with AGB.”
FYI: RLM didn’t say that. The impostor is getting better and better. Props to him.
it wasn’t the pasty! it was the man on the grassy knoll!!!!
I love the Yogi quote… very appropriate.
His death is a sign of punishment from God for making homophoic and antisemtic comments. Just can’t believe that he’s so dumb as a rock with all things came out his mouth. He’s definitely not good for America! Good riddance!
I think society will progress for the better when ignorant bigots like this one die off from this point further.
I hope he’s having a nice conversation with God about what he did…
I never liked him. :)
farewell falwell (wow does that rhymes?)
Falwell is on the express train to HELL.. CHOOO CHOOOOOO!
I have no qualms with morality, I’ll practice it when it suits the situation, but Falwell was a little extreme! On top of that, this guy isn’t exactly the poster boy of morality. He’s recieved a few dents in his car over the years. =) But I have to say I commend this guy for being steadfast in his beliefs.
Are you going to commend Hitler for being steadfast in his beliefs as well?
Falwell was not a good man, and a very bad ‘Christian’ at that too. He obviously didn’t heed the words said by Jesus in Matthew 25:40. We should call Falwell for what he is—an evil man, a Philistine, one of those who falsely beat their chests in the streets with the name of the Lord on their lips, and did not carry out the truth of the teachings at all.
heh this is funny. You know how Falwell always blamed homosexuality for everything that goes wrong? well check this out http://www.bilerico.com/2007/05/003107.php
by the way Noelle… I am in NO way shape or form saying I agree with Falwell and his antics. I’m just just saying, the guy spent his entire life spewing the exact same type crap that Ketchum and RLM post on these boards, and despite majority opposition and several reasonable arguments, the man still didn’t budge an inch. Ain’t nothing to be proud of, i’ll say that.
Oh I see..
gays/lesbians should go to hell, they blamed 9/11
=
deaf children should not get cochlear implants!
Hmm, now I see how it all works out in your head.
Am I the only one disturbed by people celebrating Falwell’s death?
No, Shane… you are not.
One of the top posts on the Word Press list yesterday and today is titled “R.I.P. Rev. Jerry Falwell” which you can find at this link:
http://antiessentialistspeaksu.....y-falwell/
One of the things I particularly appreciate about this blog is the writer’s edit that states:
EDIT: I’m not posting any comments celebrating the fact this man’s dead, no matter how much I disagreed with him while he lived. So stop sending them; they’re not going up. Have more respect.
I didn’t care for the guy any better than most of us. Heck, according to his statement, since I am a Pagan I was apparently responsible for helping to make the 9/11 terrorist attacks happen.
But I also believe that we are all become equal at the end, and we all deserve to have a little dignity in death.
No, David… I don’t have a problem with your publishing a post that gives us an overall view of what this man was all about.
But I do have a problem with the fact that he hasn’t even been buried, and yet some of you are already dancing on his grave.
Like this other blog writer says…”have more respect.”
Kinda hard to respect a guy who preaches God’s love yet we have free will to do what we think is right and blames immorality is the cause of all our problems.
but yeah you are right, we should have more respect for the dead. Now where’s Jeffery Daumer’s grave? I need to pay some respects…….. =) (just a soft poke)
You are not the only one — I was wondering the same thing for myself. I just feel that it says a lot about our character if we react like this.
THANK YOU!
I’ll admit I’m glad he won’t be producing any more of these wonderful soundbites, but he was still someone’s son, someone’s friend. …He was still someone.
I know. Strangely enough, I felt kind of sad. Then now I just feel kind of relieved. ;)
yes, i’m going to be guilty of pulling godwin’s law… nevertheless here i go:
would you be equally disturbed if people were celebrating hitler’s death?
True Christians do not judge and determine whether a person is going to heaven or hell. The final word and judgment is for the L-rd to make.
I was also dismayed by the celebratory mood of people upon the news of Falwell’s death…
Many people reacted similarly when they learned of Reagan’s death a few years back. Hatred runs deep.
Reagan was a great man =)
okay before ANYONE jumps down my throat, I didnt’ say the Reagan Presidency was the best nor did I say their decisions were sound. But nevertheless this man did wonders for American Morale in it’s time.
Wow, it takes all kinds, huh? He made life on earth interesting.
If President Bush or Alberto Gonzalez unexpectedly succumbed to death, would you still be surprised or disturbed by many of us celebrating his death? (don’t be surprised if many of us wished this statement is true)
Rev. Jerry Falwell was really hyprocite neo-conversative and supporting Bush for Iraq war and all of you have to look the results of the Iraq war, We were winning the war but we are losing the peace in Iraq.
I do not give **** about Jerry Falwell, Billy Graham or Pat Robertson. They are all neo-conversative politicans.
I want to see America beings their new era as soon as possible… USA needs next chapter in its history book.
Is anyone agreeing with me?
Mahalo,
Henry Gosebrink
I wholly agree with you about the necessity of getting rid of moral enterpreuters and start the clean slate with the American politics without any kind of scare tactics and demaeagouries.
Our society at large successfully transform itself every time to find any kind of loopholes and invent new issues to scare off people.
One of major teleevanaglist discovered himself that he and his wife have a gay son. What we really could do??
Robert L. Mason (RLM)
Have anyone seen Nate Beeler’s editoral cartoon of Rev. Jerry Falwell from the DC Examiner free regional newspaper? Real perfect editioral cartoon in reflection of what and how we really feel about Rev. Falwell. Neato!

In several articles about Rev. Jerry Falwell came up to the leading gay activist and said such a niceities - “Hi Bob (gay activist). How are you doing? You know that we need each others”
Falwell would seen as one of the moral enterpreuter to exploit controvestial issues and milk people for $$$. That’s what the moral enterpreuters usually do for living.
Yes, that is a sociological term for describing people mobilize other people with scare tactics, then establish the organization for purpose of permanent income to live off gullible people to throw off their hard-earned money to those people.
The kind of organization usually get the tax exemption as a non-profit organization and hire and expand staff people. How sad!
You could see why the Democrats usually tell the GLBT people that those people really need the Dems in the political process to fight for their civil rights, etc.
We need the real doers in our government, not using any kind of scare tactics to resolve problems and milk off contributors.
Churches and religious organizations ought to pay estate taxes and other taxes.
Robert L. Mason (RLM)
Falwell, may have been extreme. But he did see the reduction of moralism to moral relativism in our society. He recognized well the secularization of the world, especially in America. It always offends people when someone says what they’re doing is wrong.
Oh brother…
