Virginia, I have absolutely no idea. But it might not be a bad idea to follow-up, just out of the curiosity factor alone... :)

For those of you on the east side, so to speak, your contest isn't til April 21. Perhaps the person Rob knows should try out? Newbie, what about you? You're in DC, so you definitely qualify for the East Coast competition.

Curious, David...

Did you do a follow-up to find out the results of this contest? WERE there any Deafies involved? Who won, and was the winner determined?

I'm really curious to learn exactly what this contest involved.

Ohhhh well, I suppose I could Google it....

I would like to see a competition where one would be required to text flawlessly while driving through a police-training obstacle course at a minimum speed of 40 mph.

Thats hilarious! I don't think I'd win this contest, but I often get interrupted while typing on the metro with comments about how fast I type- I'm sure other deaf people get it as well.

I know for a fact that one of our readers is well-known for his ability to quickly type messages on his Blackberry and without having to look at the little keyboard. He also does this while walking and traversing DC's busy streets during rush hour - and while looking straight ahead!

Some deafies, I know, even though use pagers quite often, aren't able to be "thumb warriors" simply because of their large hands! Have to resort to typing with one finger at a time.
