Do you remember 1996 ?

Florida lost to Florida State in their their meeting. Lo and behold, after a couple of lucky losses by other teams, Florida got the rematch with Florida State to play for the National Championship.

Now tell me who the hypocrites?

Urban Meyer was on TV whining to the BCS NOT to give Michigan an rematch. yet UF only Nt’l Championship came on a rematch !!

Go Blue…. and I’ll be supporting Ohio State to whooped Florida’s butt.

I’ll enjoyed the game in the Rose Bowl, through, because this is an old fashion PAC-10 vs Big Ten matchup the Rose Bowl was intended to be.

I’m still seething over two years ago (?) 2004, methinks, when Cal did great thanks to Aaron Rodgers and his awesome reciever I forget his name JJ something, maybe it was arrington but i think he plays for usc?
ANYWAY point is that cal had a BETTER record than UT, and SHOULD have played USC and they were ROBBED of the Rose bowl thanks to that coaches poll crap that is COMPLETE BS. they went to the HOLIDAY bowl instead… wtf?!?!

just ‘cuz back then people LIKED bush and voted for texas, it was the cool thing to do. THEY ALL SUCK!!! i’m still SO SO SO PISSSSSSSED about that.

Ok, suppose Michigan did play Ohio State for the BCS championship and won. What does that prove? Nothing. I agree, a playoff system will be in the near future. Why? Because only the participating teams fans care about all those other bowl games. Who else wants to watch 3.5 hours of a meaningless football game?

Michael Wilbon chimed in on this topic this morning and made an excellent point, Urban Meyer implied that he would ask the SEC to secede from the BCS system if Michigan was chosen over Florida. That would have been the death knell of the BCS.

Urban is still advocating for a playoff system and I hope it happens. Unfortunately, the BCS is controlled by money. Check out Sally Jenkins’ column for an explanation of how it works.

What’s being overlooked is that the players are being shafted. Not a dime goes into their pockets, unless you’re being paid by New Era Sports.
