For leaking the name of former CIA operative Valerie Plame, a writer from the New York Times has been arrested for refusing to reveal her sources.
As a former editor in chief of a college newspaper, and an occassional writer, I am very shocked. It is written in Journalism Code of Ethics that journalists are not supposed to reveal their sources if they are anonymous.
Yet, Mr. Judge in the Federal Courts decided to do whatever he wanted. He held the reporter, Judy Miller, in contempt of court, for failing to reveal evidence to the case.
All of this happened when Plame’s husband wrote an article in 2003 alleging that Saddam Hussein’s government tried to buy uranium from Africa.

So, as a result two top officials in Bush’s administration leaked the name of Plame to the magazine.
The two reporters (one who agreed to testify and the one jailed today) were doing their job: reporting the news.
That just adds to my list of things I hate about the Bush administration.
