Maybe people pick on you because of the attitude you bring. I've met LOTS of deaf people, mainstreamed students, oralists, who have the attitude "I can speak/lipread/write better than you, therefore I am better than you".

I remember a friend of mine, he was very smart, well educated, great english. When the MSSD monthly came out, he looked athte magazine and said it was crap, that all those deaf people were stupid and didn't know English.

Well, gosh, no wonder they retaliated. Language bigotry is a big problem at times.

If you approach the deaf communtiy with respect and understanding for their struggles, they are very accepting. Writing entries on this blog, saying that we are all lazy moochers, wefare queens, SSI crybabies who can't accept JK the president and move on, is definitely not reaching out to others!

I don't get it. Is this something JKF endorsed the GFA to do or did they do this on their own initiative? Ah well... it probably isn't worth wondering about.

Most of the people here are representatives of the "truth." It does not matter who the people support but the truth is what they support. One side says one thing and the other side also said the same.

I'm hoping that what you're telling us is accurate, because that is really, the best thing that can happen not only to Gallaudet, but nationally as well right now.

Not having enough information, and being overloaded with *MIS*information has done such incredible damage to the community, it's mind-boggling.

I do hope that at the end (whenever that may be), there will be a publicized rationale to justify people's decisions coming from those investigations. That way we'll be able to get a sense of closure and move on from there.

These credible individuals are working with the FSSA. Unfortunately, this is the reason why FSSA meetings are now "private and exclusive". These credible individuals DO NOT want to be identified at all. Their stories are being thoroughly investigated, thus the lengthy process. It would have been nice for everyone if this was over within 12 days, but hey, let's be realistic.

Can't you share details? ;) I wouldn't be too surprised if this was accurate though.

If credible individuals approached the BoT and shared their negative experiences with them privately, that has more impact than FSSA and the protests had with the BoT.

Doh! I got my lesbians mixed up. I meant Lindsay, not Brittany. Also it looks like I had the wrong link - it's still functional, but for some reason they chose to spell "forward" with only one 'r'. OK, so now we know she doesn't say hi and cannot spell.
