It snowed a few days ago in DC and the area, and I managed to snap these pictures before the snow melted the next day.
Enjoy.

Sprinkled snow decorates a Do Not Enter sign.

Capitol Hill is quiet as snow blankets the streets.

A dusting of snow coats a tree that only had just lost its leaves.

Gorgeous pictures! You should share more of those pictures when you can, Bobby.
Thanks for the beautiful photos! Wonder if DeafDC could add a “submit photos” section for times like this …
Wow!!! Incredible photos!!! Grazie for sharing
What camera do you use, Bobby?
I use a Canon Rebel Xti (aka 400D or Kiss X in other countries). It’s mated with a Sigma 30mm lens rather than the kit lens.
how much’s the Sigma 30mm? I’m looking at getting the Xti for Christmas, but I know the kit lens have gotten bad reviews.
Opinions vary. The kit lens is mediocre, but is good to practice on. So if body-only vs with kit lens price isn’t much different, get the kit lens to practice on.
The 30mm lens I bought is almost $400 and is pretty versatile. It is what photographers call a “prime” lens, fixed at a certain zoom level without any functionality to zoom back and forth. Zoom = your body moving around.
If money is not an object, get a real Canon “L” lens ($1k or above). They are excellent lenses and hold their value (ie you can sell for about the same price as you buy them).
Awesome visual poetry.
Impressive. You should post on Flickr and submit for the DCist.
Ah it’s already on flickr, but I tend to keep my pictures friends-only. DCist is a good idea. Why not.
Beautiful pictures, but I’m glad I’m in Southern Cal!
