I love her! I watched that show in the late 80's with her and Mark Harmon. That was my first Marlee watching. I love Children of a Lesser God too! That play has come to my state and I might be seeing it. I am looking forward to it!!

I met Marlee when I was at Deaf West's Summer Theatre Program. She was very down-to-earth and easy to talk with. That whole fiasco about her using her voice at the Oscars really hurt her. She had MEANT to speak AND sign her acceptance speech. However, when she got up on the stage and saw all these people, she FORGOT to sign. Needless to say, we as a Deaf Community failed her by giving her backlash that she did not deserve.

I liked "what the bleep do we know?" When it came out on DVD I was surprised to see Marlee in it as I had low opinion of her at the time. Overall, I became impressed with her performance and I think she had a recurring role on "west wing" around the same time. She did well in it too..

I was 10 when Marlee won the Oscar - the next morning my speech therapist and teacher for the HI provided cut out article of Marlee winning the award. But it was mainly about her acceptance speech using both voice and sign. The teachers emphasized that if she could do it, so can we. We were initially freaked at the idea of giving a speech to a large audience full of hearing people and live TV. Imagine the pysche on a group of 7-11 years old.

Jesus! Are you so fake that you're now discriminating on how people walk? Lord, take mercy on your children of a lesser God, whom you have seen fit to exclude from the world of sound so that they can learn important lessons about living. Someday, you'll get through to 'em, Lord. Pass the loot!

Wow! Thanks Adam for sharing the film links with us, by the way, you mentioned something about "deaf walk", that was interesting. When you mean "deaf walk", does that mean this deaf person walks loudly or does not pick up their feet when walking??

I agree. She's an amazing woman with a mind of her own! I only wish there were some way to bring her to DC and have her be my date to DPHH! :)
