Adam Stone, where were you when these NBA players engaged in a massive fight with the fans in Detroit? What about Clemson football game where they engaged in a brawl with South Carolina?

Duke lacrosse players sexually assaulted a strippers in Durham? Even better, Colin Finnerty, now on trial in DC for assault on a heterosexual male whose Finnerty beat up and used anti-homosexual slurs … no, you just had to attack Zidane who chose the unorthodox means to attack someone with … his head.

Butthead? You did not coin that term — you probably read too much yahoo.com news where they already called him Butthead.

Don’t act so shocked. Plenty of pro athletes have gone nasty. How many times does a pitcher hit a batter intentionally? A hockey player get put in the box for roughing up an opponent? Football players need mouthguards and all that padding for a reason, y’know. Sports (…and, YES, including soccer!!) are almost a metaphor for venting hunger and rage. The rest of us just happen to use shrinks. :-)

And Erin, yeah. Univision saw its ratings up 75%. ABC hosted almost 12 million viewers, 3x what it was at the last World Cup final. Still got a long way to go before it equals this year’s Super Bowl with 91 million viewers. Methinks our incessant need for instant gratification has a lot to do with it.

Apparently, this is not the first time Zidane went off the deep end and snapped. He has been suspended in the past on one or two occassionas for head butting or stomping on a player. A sports writer wondered if he and his temper should have even been beloved in the first place.

MAIS Qu’est ce qui se passe??? What happened ???!!! Nobody here in France (i live in Paris)can figure it out…But we heard that Zizou and the italian player are going to issue a statement in a few days… I’ll let you know…
On another note…i’m coming to DC in August to film for a documentary TV series about deaf people in the States. It will be broadcast on public TV (like PBS) in a programm dedicated to deaf people. If anybody would like to appear in the documentary or know somebody who would, i’m looking for people who use video relay services (since we don’t have them in France), people who are willing to talk about discrimination (at work, in court..), people with good jobs…If you’re interested: agneskp@free.fr

Yeah, saw that. What a bone headed move! I’m looking forward to the 2008 Olympic. Namely one competitor may go for it to try and get on the wrestling Olympic team. Matt Hamill. He’s deaf and graduated from RIT. Time will only tell.

Overall, it was a great game. That was until Zidane did that head-butting thing. After that, it was like Italy HAS to win and they did.
