So you noticed something different today when you came to DeafDC.com’s front page. Now we’ve got avatar pictures floating next to our blog entries. Click on one of our stories, and you’re transported to DeafDC.com’s brand-new blogging platform and theme!
We know the blog we had before wasn’t all that great. It was something like nine well-to-do people standing on their own respective soapboxes, supposedly illuminating an audience that had no mouths or hands. It was far too difficult for you readers to comment. We all know you can’t have a good blog without comments, so we set to work on this problem.
We thought it’d be just a few switches and levers here and there. Nope. We threw out the whole thing, and brought in WordPress, the most used, freely available, standalone blogging platform.
As you can see, the results are nothing short of spectacular. We’ve got avatars. Easy photo uploading, which means more visual posts for you. There’s none of that jarring theme changes as you go to different bloggists’ pages. And you’re never, never going to reach a dead end, because you always have links back to DeafDC.com. Oh, and of course, you can comment without jumping through any hoops.
Like it? We think you will. Give it a try and comment on this post. Say anything! We sure hope you like it, and that it won’t be your last comment on DeafDC.com.

Adam Stone, the little brother of my CID classmate Liz Stone, hi there!
I don’t know if you remember me, but Elizabeth and I were dorm mates as well as classmates at CID. At that time, you were one of the little boys that had an adorably expressive face with big blue eyes.
I just discovered this blog and was startled to see your name and photo. Small world, this cyberspace! I must seem so out of touch with the deaf world, but I’ve just discovered the first of two deaf blogs (including this one) since yesterday. The first one I stumbled upon is called “Somewhat Silent.”
Please tell Liz hi for me - and that I hope to see her at the reunion this summer (I’ll try my best to be there). It’d be nice to meet you too.
Anyway, keep up with this good work. I’m grateful for those blogs particularly because I am what you’d call an isolated deafie living (or rather ever clumsily negotiating her way around) in a hearing society.
Best,
Grace
